The HY-1 series instruments are automatic scanners for TLC's,
gels, paper chromatograms and electrophoreses. A moving
2" x 12" plate carries a 20 cm TLC or other sample
in controlled steps under a bridge, examines trace on the
sample and transfers information to coupled computer. Detectors
are interchangeable. Normally supplied is a thin window
scintillation detector highly sensitive to low energy gammas
(such as those from I^{125}, Tc^{99m},
Fe^{59} etc.) plus gammas of all energies above 20 KeV
(I^{131}, Cr^{51}, Co^{57}
etc.) and betas above 500 KeV (P^{32}
etc.).

Included in the computer is pulse height analysis resolution
and "Isotope Bank: to allow immediate visualization
and estimation of Isotopic content. The multi-channel analyzer
card in the computer with its associated software added
to the localization and quantification of radioactive content
in the peak analyzer section of computer makes the HY-1
a full function, versatile, TLC scanner.
