DESCRIPTION: The Alpha Floor Monitor AFM-2 is similar to
the BFM-1 above in concept, but substitutes alpha scintillation
detectors for the GM tubes. The detection system covers
144 square inches at one time providing extreme sensitivity.
Since response to betas and gammas is zero, single alphas
may be detected via the loudspeaker without having to attempt
to sort from background.



SPECIFICATIONS:

1. Covers a 6" x 24" area
  - 144 square inches total face.

2. 0.9 mg/cm^{2} window allows detection of alphas
  from all common nuclides.

3. High efficiency assured by carefully designed light pipe
  configuration and optimization of phosphor thickness and
  distribution.

4. Ball bearing casters, replaceable tires, swivel rear caster.

5. Zero sensitivity to betas and gammas.

6. Speaker as well as meter readout for fast response.
